Master of Public Policy (MPP) Accelerated Program for Five College Students

The 36-credit interdisciplinary Master of Public Policy (MPP) program educates individuals to become public and nonprofit sector leaders, as well as effective advocates for social change. It is an accelerated MPP degree program targeted to outstanding Five College students. The MPP program integrates theoretical learning with multiple opportunities for practical applications and offers students a more policy-focused degree option than our Master of Public Policy and Administration. Current juniors at the University of Massachusetts Amherst or at Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke or Smith colleges are invited to apply.

The MPP curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong analytical foundation, applicable to a wide variety of policy issues. Students complete a three-credit internship the summer after completing their undergraduate degrees, then return to the UMass Amherst campus for two semesters of full-time studies. Because the MPP allows students to earn credits that count toward both a their bachelor’s and master’s degrees, this program is a less expensive option than earning undergraduate and graduate degrees separately.
