SPP Faculty Colloquium--Linda Tropp

This talk, "Are We Stronger Together? How Group Contact Transforms Attitudes and Social Relations," will feature Linda Tropp, professor of social psychology in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Professor Tropp's talk will draw on her years of research examining how contact between groups shapes people’s understandings of social relations and perspectives on social justice, especially when members of different racial and ethnic groups interact in the face of historical conflicts and structural inequalities.

When Networks Bite Back: Toward a Comparative Gap Analysis of Network Designs

Assistant Professor of Communication Benjamin Peters (University of Tulsa) will draw in this talk on his recent book, How Not to Network a Nation: The Uneasy History of the Soviet Internet (MIT Press, 2016). The event, co-sponsored by the UMass Department of Communication and the School of Public Policy, will take place on April 5, 2017, from 2:30-4:00 p.m. in the Integrative Learning Center (ILC), 3rd floor hub.
